so i finally saw "Gay sex in the 70's," and it was suprisingly very good. great even. ive watched it twice. i found it at blockbuster of all places in the previously viewed section. whats funny is when you buy something at blockbuster they take your purchase and leave it by the door instead of handing it too you. i got a call while exiting and ended up spacing out and leaving my movies behind. i didnt realize what i had done until i was around the corner buying snacks and felt kinda light. so i walk back to the blockbuster and try to open the exit door but cant because theres no handle. one of the guys at the front desk (a dread) spots me and comes over. i point to the stack of videos ("gay sex in the 70's" on top), he grabs them, glances at the half naked man and title on the cover and hands them to me with a look of discust on his face. i wanted to throw some sort of "im a student doing research" excuse at him but it probably wounldnt have mattered. so, i laughed and went home. ha.

again, a really good documentary. alot of first person accounts, vintage adds, stills, comercials and footage from a time forgot. get involved!!!!

two days in miami.

i think its funny that i waited to make a post about my last trip to miami while documenting my current one. however, my last trip was too good not to write about so fuck it. besides, everyone ive run into has been asking about it since i landed. game on.this is jake jefferson (above). it was his and pres's birthday and for it he flew me down to "host" a sweater/birthday party. it was the re opening of their poplife party at a new club downtown called the white room. if you get a chance go.induce.me and jessy. shes rad.

i asked to borrow this guys wig so i could pretend to be the guy from last nights party. he wasnt having it. it was clearly his thunder. he probably thought id steal it.
pres doing it the only way he knows how. BIG!in miami it doesnt stop when the lights go out, the bottles get wrapped and the gate goes down. after parties are a must here. everyone in my crew was going on and on about how contra was staying in a warehouse by the ft laudedale airport and about how the night before i arrived they all hung out there and shot gunned beers everytime a plane flew over. i thought they were lying so i was like fuck it, lets go there. it turns out they were lying. it wasnt a warehouse by the airport but a storage unit by the airport instead. probably the most derelict situation ive ever been in. not kidding. i passed out about 30 minutes into being there. probably from having too much fun. ha.
i was the first up which is something i cant remember ever happening. this is what i saw.

so around the height of all the mashness (2002 - 2004?) i was working at the lab with the woodman. during this time we'd throw lame brain mash up ideas back and fourth to break up the monotony of our jobs. all pretty shitty with exception of this one that i was reminded of while shelving my records today. basically, im not sure who came up with it (id like to say it was me), but it involved mashing eric claptons "tears in heaven"(a song about his dead son) with baby's "what happened to that boy". however mean the fact that eric claptons son fell out of a building and the corus to "what happened.." references birds chirping and has the phrase "what happened to that boy" almost leads me to believe baby may have had eric clapton's song in mind when he made his anyway. woody and i were simply finishing what had been started. we got as far putting the inst to "what happened.." over "tears.."(which i have on 12") only to find out the different bpm's made it impossible. oh well. it was still way better then anything you ever thought of. correct me if im wrong.

speaking of mushrooms, ive told this story a million times but it still makes me laugh. so the first time i did mushrooms i was in memphis with my friend lucy (shes rad). anyway, im at the hieght of my high and were walking through a field to get her house. the field clearly hadnt been taken care of so the deeper we walk the longer the grass gets. this isnt a big deal but because im shrooming i freak out, stop, back up and have to walk around the field because i manage to convince myself im shrinking when in actuality the grass is just getting taller. ha. not my best stuff, i know. still awesome tho.

first off. if youve got any extra orgins, donate them. i did and in return im getting my camera back tomorrow. remember the one i lost? well, whom ever found it must have went through the pictures because i was recognized in the street not to long ago. a young lady came up to me and said her friend has my camera. i asked how she new it was mine and she replied by saying either its your camera or someone likes to take a shit ton of pictures of you. ha. anyway, she gave me the number of the guy who found it and tomorrow if all goes well i'll get my camera back. having great karma rules.

second. i never thought id say this but ive got a job working for the CIA (kinda). its temp and its in the navy yard which is pretty cool because not only is it 4 blocks away from my apt but i now have an ID that allows me to go into the navy yard when ever i want with guests even. whos up for an adventure? basically my friend paul called me last week and said he needed help at his job. i figured if he's calling me for help then he must really need it. so im helping. it only last the week so rest assure i'll be unemployed again in no time. more on my new job when i get my camera. its pretty rad.

after much recommendation from me my brother finally watched the wizard yesterday for the first time. he made a point about how once you get past the hype its basically a straight bite of rain man. "rain man for kids." ha. he was joking when he said this but ive never heard a more spot on observation in my life. the plot is next to identical when u think about it. autistic kid with freakish skill escapes institution with help of brother to travel across country betting money in hopes of winning huge video game championship in california (or something like that). its like rain man with out a gambling problem. after looking into the movies further i realize the wizard came out almost a year and 2 days after rain man. somethings not right here. im calling bullshit on the wizard. as much as i appreciate it shaping my childhood it would have been nice if someone pointed out id been watching diet rain man the whole time. ive clearly put too much thought into this. ha. im done now.

ive been in dc the last couple days stealing towels and sheets from my mother for my new apt. when im there if im not watching cable im usually kicking it with my brother killaminjaro mcniggeburger (nickname given by father). hes rad. nothing short of epic. anyway, we were driving through the neighborhood yesterday and hit a red light. i hopped out the car and started dancing as to simulate ghost riding. we laughed and i got back in the car. my brother being the competitive person he is could resist topping me. so when we rolled up to my moms house he told me to get out. he then pulled into the middle of the street got out his car and began to ghost ride. it wouldnt have been a big deal if we didnt live on a hill. not a big hill but a street with enough incline to make ghostriding next to impossible. long story short my brother lost control of his car, it hit a fire hydrant, then hopped on to the side walk nearly totaling are neighbors fence only to eventually stop in the middle of their yard. my heart was beating so loud you could almost hear it. he pretty much came close to destroying his car. it was awesome. hes awesome.

speaking of hydrants my dad (king of the derelicts) used to to keep a hydrant in his trunk. he would leave it on the side walk when he wanted to save a parking space. also awesome.

ps. its always funny when u pay the price for making dumb decisions. like the time i broke my front tooth and nose doing no handers on a pogostick or when i cut my leg on a hood ornament while sliding accross the hood of a car (think dukes of hazzard). i had to get stiches. its like...what did you think was gonna happen?
